Oasis Brands Fights Cold & Flu Season With Donation of Essential Tissue Products to the LA Regional Food Bank
With current widespread flu activity reported throughout Southern California, and more than 300,000 confirmed flu cases in 2013, Oasis Brands is helping those in need stay healthy and fight the flu with a donation of 90,000 pocket packs of facial tissue to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (LARFB).
“We are a growing company committed to giving back in support of the everyday life and activities of communities where our products are sold,” said Nathan Hanson, CEO of Oasis Brands. “Through this donation to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, we hope to help reduce the risk of spreading cold and flu viruses, and protect families in the communities in which we serve.”
During cold and flu season the average American household increases its consumption of facial tissue by as much as 65 percent. This sharp demand greatly impacts many non-profit organizations that spend thousands of dollars each year trying to provide products to families in need. Oasis Brands is giving back to the community with this donation by providing essential care supplies, and promoting good health and hygiene practices. Oasis Brands’ Fiora® brand paper products can be found in Southern California retail stores such as Superior, El Super and Northgate.
The USDA reported in 2013 that more than 48 million people in the U.S. participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), most commonly known as “food stamps.” However, basic hygienic needs such as bath tissue and paper towels are not covered by the program, and the need for these items is astounding. Local organizations like the LARFB can spend up to thousands of dollars each year in an effort to provide enough paper products to families in need, but they still lack enough supply to meet demand.
